Good Work

In Raleigh, NC, Baker Roofing Company has a slogan. It’s on their website, truck bumpers, marketing materials, everywhere there is a point of contact with the customer. It’s short, to the point, and memorable, all good attributes of a company’s message. Here is what the slogan says:

The more I think about this collection of 21 simple words, the more I realize the power of it’s message. We SHALL…an imperative statement that has no ambiguity. GOOD WORK…. mediocrity not allowed…PROFIT and LOSS…tying the financial to performance and ALWAYS…a statement of continuity and commitment to doing it right…every time!

So to the Baker Roofing team I say congratulations for being able to tell the world around you who you are and how you will perform in so few words. They speak far more than a long-winded diatribe of we are this and we believe that and we….blah, blah, blah. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Baker’s logan is a perfect example of doing exactly that.

This is the seventh and final REIG blog on Business 101, and with all credit to the Baker team, I want to “borrow” their slogan to wrap this series up. In that series, we touched on these key topics that define a business and its culture…integrity, innovation, service, quality, and communications. You deliver good work when you put all of those together in equal measure. When something other than profit is at the core of who you are, you produce good work. When the company’s value equation includes the five elements listed above, you can’t help but strive for excellence…i.e., good work! And like Baker, REIG shall do good work! It’s in our DNA. It’s who we are, what we do, how we deliver, and why we exist.
