New Belgium Brewing Company
Commercial rooftop PV at the New Belgium Brewing Company brewery in Asheville. Duke Energy SDGI controller with dual-RTAC comms isolation.

Scope of work
Commercial / industrial rooftop solar at the New Belgium Brewing Company brewery in Asheville, NC, with the Duke Energy required Small-scale Distributed Generation (SDGI) controller — built by ReNu Energy with REIG owning the SCADA scope.
What we delivered
- Provided and installed the Duke Energy SDGI control system that lets Duke remotely communicate with and control the small-scale system.
- Two RTACs deployed to isolate the comms domains from each other — Duke on one side, the customer's monitoring on the other.
- Worked with the EPC and the inverter manufacturer to build the correct comms stack between RTAC and string-level hardware.
- Assisted Duke with final system testing during interconnect.
- Verified remote data collection by the brewery's asset team after hand-over.
Outcome
A commercial-scale rooftop PV system in production, with Duke holding the control authority it required for distributed generation and the brewery seeing clean monitoring data on its own dashboard.
